Do Not Be Afraid

As I finished writing the scripture for today on my “Christmas 31 Day Scripture Writing Plan”, parts of this amazing story kept swirling around my thinking.

In normal lives, a young woman named Mary, engaged to be married, and a young man named Joseph, anticipating the day when he would take his new wife into his home, things happened.  Things that made them shrink back from the “normal”.  Things that they did not understand. Things that made them almost afraid to take another breath.  Fear of what this meant for their future and what the people they loved would think of them.

In this story of the birth of Jesus Christ, two people had their normal lives interrupted by an unexpected happening.  They experienced all the emotions and fear that anyone would have but in the midst of their circumstance, God sent an angel to each of them.  These are the words that echoed in my mind and heart this morning as I read them.  “Do not be afraid...” (Matthew 1:2, Luke 1:29)

As I listened to this familiar phrase swirl around my thoughts, I wondered if I, too, had heard these words whispered to my heart in the unexpected and difficult happenings in my life.  Like Mary and Joseph’s confusion and questions of why’s and how, there were so many times that I felt myself shrinking back from the “normal”, afraid to even take another breath.   Through the devastation of a divorce, the tragedy of a fatal accident, the finality of a terminal diseases, confusion quickly came in the why’s and how, just as they did for this young couple.   Thinking back on these times, I can clearly see God’s presence with me.  He may have not sent an angel but He did send many servants to minister His message to me as He did to Mary in Luke 1:29.  I can almost hear His words to me.  ”Do not be afraid, Mary Ann, my beloved child, for you are mine and I have a perfect plan.”  I can only whisper now in awe, “Thank you, Father.”

Today, right now, if you find yourselves in unexplained and difficult circumstances in your life, hear the words that Mary and Joseph heard.   If you are a child of God, then you, too, have found favor with God.  You, too, can be comforted and filled with the hope and promises of God in these fours words that we hear repeatedly this time of year.  “Do not be afraid.”  God has a perfect plan for you, whether you understand the why’s and how’s or not, you can fully trust Him and respond as this young woman did.  “I am the Lord’s servant” Mary answered, “May it be to me as you have said.” Luke 1:38.

If you do not have a personal relationship with the God who sent His Son to the world to save us from our sins,  I encourage you to not let another Christmas season pass by without seeking the why’s and how of this amazing truth of His love, forgiveness and hope. You, too, will then understand how a child of God can trust these wonderful words, “Do not be afraid.”

May God bless you and draw you closer to Him.  Merry Christmas!

"Sit a spell" There's more to the weekend besides FOOD!

Happy 4th of July weekend!

With the long weekend ahead of us, I hope that we have come to the place where we can anticipate and enjoy the fun and fellowship of our family and friends, without stressing over FOOD!   Yep, we have to prepare it and eat it but it doesn’t have to define our purpose for getting together.

I was reading in Luke this morning about when Jesus looked up into the tree and told Zacchaeus to come down out of the tree because He was going to his house today.  The Daily Bread brought out that Jesus wanted to “sit a spell” with Zacchaeus and his household.  He didn’t just plan on whipping in the door, talking fast and then leaving abruptly to get to His next appointment.

I have been feeling much like this..whipping around, talking fast and racing to the next thing.  I think that God wanted me to see this morning that I need to anticipate “sitting a spell” on this long weekend.  Not that I only want to sit and do nothing.  Those that know me know that won’t happen but to make it a point to sit long enough to hear what is going on in the lives of those around me.  To enjoy the chatter of family and friends.  To take the time to have a thankful heart for the freedom we enjoy in our country.

So, prepare a healthy snack or dish to pass for your get-together.  Grab a glass of ice water, flavored with cukes & raspberries or lemon.  Sit down next to someone and just listen and talk.  Not about how fattening the salads are on the picnic table.  When those around us hear these words, they will hear blah, blah, blah.  Instead, ask “So, what’s happening in your life?”…and then listen.  Speak words of encouragement and truth.  Look around at those the Lord has placed in your life and be thankful for them.  They may not be perfect, none of us are, but God is good and has His purposes for why they are your family and friends.  It’s not all about you but that He has the purpose of using you, and it may be to just encourage one of them today.  The food isn’t all that important in light of the real purpose of relationships, is it?

I am proud to be an American!  May God have mercy on this nation and the state that it is in and may He once again, Bless America!

Blessings you each of you!

But God...He Directs Us to His Love so We Can Persevere. TFW

Hey Faithful Weigher's,
Another week is upon us. As I wrote in my journal this morning, I am so thankful to have been given another day to live for my Lord. In this very long season of my grieving heart, yesterday was another one of those days when things "hit" me. It is hard to see a chair in our church empty, when last week it wasn't. It's hard to look forward to seeing my dad, only to see the sad, lonely look in his face, as it was 5 yrs ago on Father's Day, that we said our final, earthly good-by to my mom. It's hard to know that my precious grandson had to go through yet another Father's Day with only a 5 yr olds memories of his daddy. It's hard knowing that my other grandson has a dad and he chooses not to see him for months on end..even on Father's Day. It's hard knowing my sweet friend had to go through her very first Father's Day without hearing her daddy's voice. The grieving hearts in this world will never end.
BUT GOD!!! My two most favorite words!!! It does not surprise me that yesterday, Pastor Leo talked about being diligent and to persevere from Deuteronomy 6. It doesn't surprise me that today, Day 6, in our Made to Crave devotional, Lysa talks about how God can and does point our hearts towards Him and therefore, we can persevere in this life He has given to us, even through these hard times with grieving hearts. Through these seemingly long days and weeks of working and caring for loved ones with what sometimes feels like ungrateful hearts.
Lysa shares this verse, "May the Lord direct your hearts into God's love and Christ's perseverance." 2 Thessalonians 3:5. I looked at a couple of reference verses to find that here, "hearts" means our intellect and will. Hmmm...not our emotions or feelings? Nope, our ability to reason and understand God's way, commands of how we are to live for him and our desire, our choice to follow His will for us. Without being in His Word daily, I would be swept away by what and how the world tells me to live. If I'm feeling down or blue, then have a glass of wine or go out and spend money, whether I have it or not. If I'm feeling overwhelmed with responsibilities, then just blow it off and walk away without guilt. BUT GOD and His love for me that NEVER fails and knowing that NOTHING can separate me from Him, not even myself and my feelings or emotions. His love is so patient and kind and it is not based on my performance. (points taken from Lysa).
Yesterday, I could have chosen to allow the sadness of grief for myself and so many that I love envelope me into a dark place, BUT GOD, in His faithfulness to me, His daughter, whom He so deeply loves, directed me back into His amazing, caring love for me, which allowed me to go forth and enjoy the day that the Lord had made. This, my sweet Faithful Friends, is what perseverance looks like.
Lysa says it best. "Yes, we are only one good choice away from bein back on the path of perseverance." Allow God to direct your heart back into His love for you. Whether it is your emotional state this morning, your physical well-being or your overwhelming circumstances, choose this day to persevere in the name of the Lord and HIS plan for you for this day.
Blessings to each of you, my sweet Faithful Weigh Friends,
Mary Ann

Our God is so Faithful in so many ways! TFW

I am praising our Lord this morning for many blessings. I love waking up to see the sun rising again.  Our God is so faithful!  I love hearing my hubby say that he is feeling a little better.  Our God is so faithful!  I love digging into God's Word with our Faithful Weigher's and learning truths about who He is to me and how He created me. About what I may be thinking that is contrary to His Word and holding  me in a place of repeated frustration.  Our God is so faithful!

One comment I have heard more than once is that "This is deep!"  It certainly is!!  As I have asked God to keep my eyes and heart open to see what is behind my "stinkin thinkin",  He is faithful to my request and I am thankful for this digging deep.   In our walk with Him, isn't it our deepest desire to grow ever closer to Him?  To grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, as it says in 2 Peter 3:18?   We should never be satisfied to stay where we are but to desire to grow, and change according to His likeness.  If we don't have that desire, then perhaps we are "happy" in our "stinkin thinkin" of being "stuck" in the places that we find ourselves.  For those of us that meet weekly at TFW, we were ready to discover from God's Word, why we continue to think like we do when it comes to the repetitive ways that we have struggled with in our healthy eating journey.

If you have joined us in this study about "Discovering our Strongholds" with James MacDonald, we are moving from discovering our dispositions to the "Destroying the Strongholds of Family Dysfunctions".  We have included a youtube for today's teaching.  May you listen to this with the prayer that God will be pleased to show to you what He wants you to hear.  Take notes.  Pray about what you have heard and ask God to show you what may be behind your thinking, as you continue your walk with Him.

Many prayers and blessings for each of you this day, my sweet Faithful Weigh Friends.

Why a study on Strongholds in a weight-loss support group?

Happy Wednesday, Faithful Weigher's!! God is blessing us with a beautiful, sunny morning with the hope of warmer temps headed our way!  I have to say that this has given me a new "spring" in my step!  LOL
We were blessed with a couple of new ladies at our meeting yesterday and this is how I explained our current study on Strongholds.  On the surface, one could ask what this has to do with weight-loss and our healthy eating journey.  This is the insight that God has given to me as I asked myself the same question.

Having been on this journey for 4 + years now, along with several of our members of The Faithful Weigh, we know how we should eat, what we should eat, about portion sizes, reading labels, how our body reacts to excessive eating and too much of a not-so-good things in our food choices.  We have been on a multitude of different diets and eating plans for several years. We have lost weight, gained it back, lost it again, gave up trying and have beat ourselves up for failing, once again.

The statement that grabbed me as I was listening to this series by James MacDonald on "Destroying Strongholds" was this; "Stop thinking why do I do this and starting thinking why do I think this way?"

Yes, we can stop doing things, even seeking the strength of God to help us.  We are thankful and give Him the glory for those successes.  However, because of our human, sinful nature, we tend to grow complacent in that success and soon, we find ourselves in the same place again, asking the question, "Why do I do this?"
This is where that statement grabbed me.  Am I retreating to these old patterns because of strongholds in my thinking that I have not yet surrendered to God's control instead of my own?

What I have learned so far is that my main disposition style is that I can be sufficient in my own strength and accomplishments and step away from the truth that God is my sufficiency and I need to lean fully on Him and not myself.

If you have questions what this study on Strongholds has on your healthy eating & living journey, I hope that you take the opportunity to listen to the podcasts we have listened to so far and see if this is something that God has brought you to do grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.  As usual, the truths I am learning from this not only pertains to my healthy eating journey but has already given me such insight on the relationships in my life.  I am learning more and more about grace!  God's grace for me, the grace others have for me and the grace that God is calling on me to have for those in my life and that I come in contact with.  It is ALL GOOD and ALL THINGS from our Lord are good!!  Praise His Name and to Him we give the glory for bringing us to this study at this time.

Hope this is beneficial to you as you continue your journey with us.

Blessings in the name of my Lord and Savior,
Mary Ann

Making Me Lie Down??? TFW

The second section of our "If You Have a Craving..." chapter for this week shares a verse from Psalms 23.  As Laurie commented at our last meeting, you most often hear this Psalms read at funeral s.  However, there is so much more to it than a comfort for those grieving a loss of a loved one.  This chapter gives us the picture of our Lord as a Shepard and we are His sheep.  Sheri writes, "When we feel like your soul is dying of thirst and you have nothing left to give, stop everything and be still."  Psalms 23:2 says, "He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters."   Ahhh, that sounds so peaceful, doesn’t it?

You know how I always notice the action words in verses that instruct us on how to live and walk in our Lord?  Well, this scripture also has action words but they are not what we need to do, but they are what our Lord has done and will do for us.

Because I wanted to know how the Lord "makes me lie down", I went to one of my favorite books,  A Shepard Looks at Psalms 23 by Phillip Keller.  Before I had the pleasure of reading this, I did not know the duties of a shepherd caring for his flock of sheep. What a beautiful picture of our Lord and how He cares for us.

Let me share with you from Chapter 3 of this amazing little book about sheep.  In order to lie down there are four requirements that need to be met.        Because of their timidity, they  refuse to lie down unless they are free from fear.
Because of their social behavior, they will not lie down unless they are free from friction with others of their kind.
If they are tormented by flies or parasites, they will not lie down.
If they are hungry, they will not lie down.
It is the shepherds responsibility to take care of these four things, in order to "make" them lie down and rest.  Also, In order for them to rest, the shepherd needs to be nearby because when he is near, the sheep know they are safe and cared for.

Wow!  Did you know all of this needed to take place before sheep would rest? Keller brings this to a Christian's life in these words. "..There is no substitute for the keen awareness that my Shepherd is nearby.  There is nothing like Christ's presence to dispel the fear, the panic, the terror of the unknown."

Our God, because of who He is and His eternal love and care for us, makes it possible for us to lie down and rest. Do we trust Him to have met these four "requirements" so that we can rest and be refreshed?  He desires for us to bring our fears to Him.  He instructs us in His Word how to act and respond to others.  He assures us that we can denounce the tormentors attacks in the name of Jesus.  He fills our empty souls with His Living Word and feeds  our bodies with  the bounty of  healthy, nourishing foods He has provided.   God does all of this for us so that we can lie down in green pastures.

There are many more pages in this wonderful little book that go on to describe how "green pastures" come about with the extensive work and care of the shepherd.    But for now, let's just rest our minds and souls on all that our Lord has done for us so that it is truly possible to be "made to lie down". To rest and be refreshed.  Right now, in this moment, knowing that He is our Shepherd and we shall not want.

Blessings at the close of this Lord's Day, my sweet Faithful Weigh Friends,

Mary Ann

Refreshed! TFW

It is no wonder that every book study that we have done in TFW has touched on the need to rest and be refreshed.  This study with Sheri Rose Shepard also brings us to our chapter for this week on "Craving Real Refreshment".

In the "New Life Recipes", she talks about refreshing others and bringing refreshment to ourselves.  How very true this is!  I was very blessed to have a mother that was always giving of herself for others refreshment.  With a smile and sometimes great physical effort, she blessed and was blessed.  Because of her example, I, too, find much joy in blessing others with refreshment.  In the past few weeks, my sister-in-law and I are doing some volunteer re-decorating and we get a chuckle at how we are enduring sometimes painful efforts because we  "get to"  stand back when it's all done and go "Wow"!  Aha!!  This is what it means to be "refreshed as we refresh others".  We and the owners of those rooms, are getting a lift! A double "refresh"!  Two for One!  What a deal! Don't you love a bargain?! :)  Yes, it cost a little money and muscle aches and pains BUT what a "lift" we experience in our hearts and souls!   God has a purpose for putting  verses like Proverbs 11:25 in His Word! "The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed."

If this  kind of "refreshment" is not one that you are accustom to or may think that you can't do, perhaps God has brought this truth to you this week to satisfy a craving in your heart.  Perhaps He is asking you to step out of your comfort zone of just doing for yourself and your household.  Yes, it will cost you!  Perhaps  some monetary and/or physical expense but the amazing sense of joy that will arise from your very soul will be the refreshment of doing and giving to others , which God has called us to do.  I was very blessed to learn that a  FW friend dropped off a bowl of her homemade clam chowder to another FW friend, just a few days ago. What refreshing news that was for me and I wasn't even the recipient!  I KNOW that God's Word put into action, brought refreshment to both of their souls!   The definition of "refreshed" always starts with the words, "The act of".  This means that you must DO something in order to fill this craving of your heart and soul.  The spiritual results of being refreshed will keep you from seeking food to attempt to fill a physical craving that just is not there.

Blessings to you, my Sweet Faithful Weigh Friends, as you refresh your souls with God's truths this weekend.

Give In?? TFW

Happy Thursday, Faithful Weigher's!

I don't always like the world's sayings about the different weekdays because they are all made and given by the Lord.  However, yesterday just seemed to be a "Hump Day" for me.  My energy level was not there and it did seem to be a struggle to keep moving and stay focused on the task at hand.  Things seemed to get mixed up and burned, as did my dinner on the grill and the eggs I was attempting to boil.   God, in His mercy, carried me through the day.  Maybe not on the wings of eagles but none the less, I know He carried me because He is faithful!

Sheri Rose challenged us this week, on her short video, to find a verse, meditate on it and see how it applies to our lives.  Just one verse.   Where do I start when the scriptures are FULL of verses that I should be applying to my heart and life?   Usually, when I just go to something that I am already reading, such as Jesus Calling, The Daily Bread, a book in the Bible I may be reading through or a book study I am doing, God is so faithful to bring me to a verse that I need to hear with my heart.

In our book and handout, the first "New Life Recipes" is "Give In".  The verse in Ezekiel 36:26 says, " I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you.  I will take out  your stony, stubborn hear t and give you a tender, responsive heart." (NLT)   The NIV  and several other translations say …"and give you a heart of flesh."   From my NIV notes, the word "flesh" in the Old Testament usually meant a symbol of weakness and frailty.  In the New Testament it usually means the sinful nature, opposing God.  In this verse, however, it means the opposite of a hard, stone heart but one that is pliable and teachable.   This helped me understand this part of the verse better.   In this  part of the book of Ezekiel, these are the prophesies and promises that God had made to Israel.  God is telling them that  He will give them, His people, a new heart.  He, also, will give us, His daughter's , a new heart and a new spirit.   When will He do this, we ask?  When will a new heart and a new spirit replace our "stony, stubborn heart"?  This is the part that I started to ponder.

Sheri Rose asked us to take an honest inventory of our deepest desires.  Hmmm...what ARE my deepest desires?  Can I list them off from the top of my head? No...she said my "deepest desires".  I have to dig down past my immediate "I want's".  Down through the "I wish's".  Down to the yearnings of my heart, some even so small that I dare not form them into words, at this point of my life.

But one of those yearnings that has words is for the salvation of my children.  I have to say, this is my most deepest yearning. I know that this within God's will for all souls that are lost.  One verse that comes to my mind is 2 Peter 3:9, "The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance."  God is patient and I, too, through His mercies, will be patient and trust for His will to be done in my children's heart and lives.    When you get to that deepest yearning, Sheri Rose asks us if we want that more than God's will for us, or in my case, for others?  Now, this is DEEP!

So, I went down deep but on the way down there, I found that I had to climb over some stony areas.  I went back to those areas and stopped on top of the stone piles.  Are these desires in line with the will of God?  Am  I desiring to do things, which are noble and even scriptural, that just may not be in His plan for my life?   Perhaps they are in His plan for someone else's life that I have seen and I am only wishing that it was for me?  Hmmm…..perhaps these are the "stony, stubborn" areas of my heart that I need to "give in" to the Lord, confess my stubbornness about my wants and wishes and allow Him to give me a "tender, responsive" heart to His will for me in these areas.  They may just disappear once those blinders of "this is want I want to do" are gone!   May He fill my heart with desires to fulfil His perfect plan and will for who He created me to be and do for His glory.

My sweet Faithful Weigh Friends, don't pass by this opportunity that God has brought to you to. Go digging down to see your deepest desires through the eyes of God, who created you and knows you from the inside out.   Do you wonder what this has to do with weight-loss?  Perhaps you will find on your way down to your deepest desire, the "want or wish" to be "skinny" or to look like you "used to" look way back when.  Perhaps God's purpose for bringing you to this is to stop climbing over those heavy, stony places and "taste and see that the Lord is good" and His will for you is to live in His freedom.

Blessings to each of you today.

Happy Friday and first weekend in October! TFW

Where have those sunny, summer days gone?  It seems we have been forced to jump into the next seasons without any transition time.  Our air conditioner is still in the window and I still have fans sitting around the house because only a week ago, we needed them.  Last night, we had to turn on the furnace!

Hmmm....doesn't it seem that way in our lives, too?  We heard Sheri Rose talk about being "in" the season in which we find ourselves and not trying to still "fit in" to our last season. Sometimes, or very often, we find ourselves into a new season before we really have had the chance to prepare for it!  It may be a season of illness, an empty nest, becoming a parent or grandparents, a season of grieving, divorce or financial difficulties.  Even though there may be symptoms for what is to come and perhaps time to prepare, the actual season we find ourselves in still brings us the feeling of "How did we get here?".

So I will speak to myself, "Mary Ann, you had time to prepare for the coming fall season.  The calendar showed you this, as it has since you were born, so buck up!"  The truth is, I chose to ignore the symptoms of the coming fall season. My love for the warmth and "freedom from heavy clothes" from the last season kept me in this "fairy tale" frame of mind that if I ignored it, it wouldn't happen.

Perhaps we are ignoring the signs that are showing us the reality of what season we are in? Perhaps we are seeing the signs but choosing to do and be what we have always done and then we whine to our reflection in the mirror, "How did I get here?"  Our reflection may show wrinkles, fat rolls, saggy skin, worry lines, graying hair, sad eyes,or an empty soul.  My sweet Faithful Weigh Friends, these all could be symptoms of a new season God has brought you to for His purposes and glory.  This could be a season in your life that He has called you to be salt to those around you. This could be the very season that it is time to stand on the truth of God's Word and know that it is good.

Read Ecclesiastes 3:1-14.  There is a time for everything! Verse 11 says, "He has made everything beautiful in its time.  He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom it."

I pray that today, you will seek and find the good in the season God has you in.  Yes, it is fall and yes, the colors are beautiful, the air is crisp and my God is so very good to me!  I praise His holy Name the I "get to" wake up this morning, breathe, move and go to my job. and I may not be able to fully fathom eternity but I know that I have the hope of eternity with my Lord Jesus Christ! Hallelujah!

Blessings to each of you this day, my Sweet Faithful Weigh Friends,
Mary Ann

TFW - May in Motion. God's Plan, My Attitude!

Happy Faithful Weigh Tuesday, everyone!  I know yesterday wasn't a great walking day, well, after I got out of work that is.  However, my Action plan was to walk 3 or 4 times this past week and that I did! :)  A small victory but enough that I can feel the difference in my body and my spirits!!  Thank you, Lord! :)  How did your Action Plan go for this week?  Did you wait until this morning to find your Action Card and then try to remember what it was you were "gonna" do and then try to write something "spiritual" down for at least a couple days of the week?  This may sound a little harsh but I have to tell you that I have found myself doing this and it grieves me.  God has given this to us for our benefit.  He doesn't need to use this Action Plan or anything, for that matter, to show us who He is in our daily lives.  However, He chose to bring us to this little "push" of a plan to bring us into communing with Him daily, as we carry out our Action Plan and more importantly, seeking His truth in it.  I know for a fact that He wouldn't have brought me to this if He didn't have something for me to see about myself and most importantly, about who HE is to me, even in my lack of discipline of caring for His temple. It was Saturday morning before I found my card, still in my blue binder.  I started thinking about what God's truth would be for my plan of walking/exercising...to be Moving in May.  I was reminded that I "get to" move.  I "get to" go to work.  I "get to" go about my day freely.  Why do I "get to"?  Why do I "get to" do anything?  Then, as I looked out my porch windows, I saw the verse on our name plaque above the mailbox.  Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plan for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." (esv) THIS is why I "get to"!  Because my God, who through His love, grace, mercy and forgiveness towards me, has a plan for me.  A plan for my good.  To give me hope for a future.  A future that I will be able to continue to serve Him with vigor and energy and health.  I don't know what the future holds, only He does, but for today, He has given me the ability to move and do and go.  I "get to" go for a walk because of His grace and mercy to me.  It's in my attitude...this is where the procrastination comes from.  This is where the "hopelessness" comes from that it's not really going to help me lose weight.  What is 3 walks a week going to do, anyways?!  Lord, forgive me for an attitude that discounts Your plan for me to move and sustain the health you have blessed me with.  A prayer from our Faithfully Fit book study, (7/10/12) says this, "...I am thankful for the special plan you have for me. I want to cooperate with that plan in my life -in the way I eat and exercise, and in all of my decisions. Help me to be at peace with myself, not constantly striving to be something that you have not designed me to be. Help me not to fear my weakness, but to trust your overcoming power in me. I thank you, Lord, for these places and times of testing that help me to grow stronger in You, Amen"  God has brought me to this Action Plan for this week, for this time in my journey.  Today, because of God grace, mercy and peace within me, I will go for a walk and thank Him that I "get to"!  So, how has your week been?  He will meet you right where you are, right at this moment.  Meet Him!  He has a plan for you that is good and that will give you hope and a future.  That future is a closer walk with Him each day for eternity!  Praise God! :)  Get walking and rejoice because we "GET TO"!!  Have a blessed day and week ahead, my sweet Faithful Weigh Friends!

April in Action! God's Truth! TFW

Happy Wednesday, Faithful Weigher's!  Well, we made it through another week of our April in Action!  What a blessing to hear from our gal's that are serious about taking ACTION!  God truly worked in our hearts and brought His truths into the tools we chose to take action on.  WOW!

If you are of the thinking that to lose weight you just need to eat less, you must not be aware of our sin nature of "self" that takes over our determinations. Too frequently, we allow "self" to sabotage our efforts of "eating less to lose weight".  The fact is, God created our bodies to function perfectly by giving internal signals to let us know what we need to do or not do. Most often, we are not aware of what they are or we ignore them to gratify "self".  Most of this gratifying "self" comes from our emotions, which many times lead us to think we NEED to eat or that we NEED certain foods to make us feel better. The truth is, our body will actually tell us what we need to sustain itself and to function.  For those that understand this truth, they understand that weight loss is much more a condition of the heart rather than just putting less food in our mouths.  Proverbs 23:7 tells us, "As he (man) thinks in his heart, so is he."  If your heart is not desiring to follow God's truths in this area of how you eat and live, than where else can your desires come from?  The answer is not hard to figure out.  The lies of the world, that "feeds" us ways to gratify self!  They appeal to our emotions and what we "deserve"!  I, for one, am so very grateful that God has shown me the error of my ways that I followed for so many years.  Years of yo-yo dieting, continually condemning myself for not sticking to them and falling back into old patterns.  Why was I so surprised that God desires to be in this area of my life, just as much as my walk with Him in other areas?  What a difference from my "self" efforts to be healthy, to lose weight, it has been to learning more of God's truths about my eating habits. Relying fully on Him to change my heart first.  I know now, that without the heart-change, the thinking will continue to gratify "self".  This is why I am so encouraged to see God work in our hearts, week by week.
My Action Tool was to "Not have something sweet with my morning coffee."  I recently realized that this was a habit that I had acquired over the years.  It was seemingly setting me up for a sweet craving a couple hours later, which set me up for another one a couple hours past that.  Continually gratifying myself with a "sweet treat".  Certainly not what my body needed at those 2 hour increments.  I chose to "stop and think" and to remind myself that "Jesus is the sweetest name I know", a hymn I have loved since I was young.  I would sing it as I walked away from the kitchen.  I went through this whole last week with nothing sweet with  my morning coffee because I was filling my heart with Jesus sweet name!  It was after a few days of this that God showed me Romans 8:6 that says, "The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace." God's truth!  I know this to be true as I had peace in my heart as I enjoyed my coffee and my time with Him each morning.  I wasn't beating myself up after I had taken my last swallow of a cookie, brownie or whatever else I could grab on my way to read His Word and pray.
What a blessed week it was for all of us on this April in Action journey with God!  I am excited to see what He is doing in our hearts in this coming week.
Have you joined with us?  What is your Action Tool for this week?  Do you have an Action Plan written down?  Are you looking for God's truth in your life this week?  I pray that you, too, will invite God into your desire to take care of His temple this week and know His peace and live!
Blessings, my sweet Faithful Weigh Friends.

Tempted? Tired and Hungry? Cadbury Mini Eggs? TFW

Happy Wednesday, Faithful Weigher's. Our meetings yesterday were so uplifting and encouraging to perseveres on this path that God is walking with us on.  We have been talking about temptations and satan's lies around us.  Well, for those of you who read the Daily Bread, today's verse is Matthew 4:1-10. It states," ..the tempter came to Him, (Jesus) when he was tired and hungry."  Hmmmm....this is right where I have been these past few days.  In this state of mind and body, "escapes" around us look so good to us, don't they?  My most recent example is this happened yesterday. I am feeling very tired and worn from not being able to sleep a good, solid nights sleep for over a week.  I was hungry because it was already after 1:00 pm and I realized that I had not even had a protein bar for breakfast and it was past my "normal "eat when I'm hungry" time which is usually about 11:30ish.  Well, I was in Aldi's grabbing a few needed grocery items when in the midst of the boxes in the last row, hardly visable to the scanning eye, I saw that they had bigger bags of Cadbury Mini Eggs.  You know, the little milk chocolate eggs with a hard shell.  Well, they hopped their way into my cart!  Ohhh, they would taste real good with my afternoon coffee.  And the did!  I was rebuked by my friend when I said I "sinned" when I bought them. Yes, she is right. It was not a sin to buy Cadbury Mini Eggs.  It was not a sin for me to eat them with my afternoon coffee, knowing that it was part of my "fist full" of food that I needed to nourish me.  However, I realized this morning after reading these verses in the Matthew and the comments in the Daily Bread that when I was tired and hungry, I zeroed in on that purple bag of Cadbury Mini Eggs!  Hmmm... satan tempted Jesus with bread.  He tempts me with Cadbury Mini Eggs!  The truth is that he is still in the business of tempting us when we are tired and hungry!!  We still need to be responding to him as Jesus did!  He spoke God's words back to him.  May be encouraged by this today, as we seek the Lord for what we need today and trust Him to supply those needs and not that which tempts us to satisfy us for a moment.  Wow!  I think I got it, Lord, for today, that is.  I will continue to trust You for my needs for tomorrow.  Blessings on this Wednesday, my sweet Faithful Weigh Friends.

His Time, A New Word! TFW

I trust that you are looking forward to spending some time in the Lord's house today.  I know I am!! This is my first favorite day of the week.  The next one, of course, is "Ministry Tuesday". :)
I learned a new word today!  If you are like my husband, you may already know it.  I probably should have already learned it, but as we know, we come across things, words, ideas and even more importantly, truths in God's Word us when His time is right.  How do know that "His time is right?"  With the curiosity of what a something means!  I had to have read this word, on this day, in "Jesus Calling" for the past 3 years. I usually mark down meanings, aha! moments and underline phrases that "hit" me on that particular day.  However, when I read this word today, I immediately said to myself, "What does that mean?"  I also noticed that nothing was written above it or that there were no arrows to the margin with a definition.  Huh!  It was "His time" for me to dig a bit deeper into this thought today.  So, being the woman of the techno world that I am...ha ha...I grabbed my cell phone and asked Google what cacophony meant.  She, yes, a woman's voice responded that it means a "harsh mixture of sounds."   Aha!!!   In the context of today's devotions in "Jesus Calling", it made perfect sense.  In the study that we have been doing with our Faithful Weigh book study, it now makes even more sense.  God's time was right! I love it!  IF you have "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young, it is a MUST READ.  If you don't then I will share the verse and thoughts with you.
It is a verse that I have come to love and have found such joy and peace through over the past few years.  Zephaniah 3:17, "The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save.  He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."  When God's time was right the first time, I read that verse and was in AWE!  Most of you know that I LOVE to sing for the Lord. I am always in awe what He does with the songs He gives to me to share and with my quivering body and voice.  Knowing how intimately connected I am with Him through singing, it just blew my mind that my God, the God of the universe, would sing over me and rejoice over me with so much more intimacy than I could ever imagine.
It is a testament of who God is!
Ok, back to my new word, cacophony, and why His time was right this morning.  The words of Sarah Young, "The voices of the world are a cacophony of chaos, pulling you this way and that.  Don't listen to those voices; challenge them with My Word."  Bingo! Right on, Sarah!  She must have been reading our handouts and learning of the temptations and lies the world so freely gives about who we are, what we look like and what we should be eating!  As I wrapped my mind around this whole revelation of becoming aware of this cacophony, I realized this important thing about me and my relationship with God. (Even before I read the rest of today's words in Jesus Calling.)  As I have sought the Lord in more areas of my life, He has given me more and more of these "aha" moments.  In these moments, I am drawn closer to Him and am learning more about who He is.  Then I read the "rest of the story" and it was right on.  She says, "I love to reveal Myself to you, and your seeking heart opens you up to receive more of My disclosures."  Amen and Amen!!  I have found this to be so very true!  As I sat, in this silent revelation, I realized that the closer I draw to My God, the more the sounds of this world become a "cacophony of chaos." Chaos that I used to think was normal and even more sadly, the truth!  It is clear to me now why His time was right this morning.  I wasn't here at this place in my relationship with the Lord a year ago.  I had read over these words without even a thought about all of this.  Isn't God amazing how He works everything for His purposes and glory?  Even the timing of our Faithful Weigh studies and the work He has done in my heart over this past year that brought new meaning to me today with a "new" word, cacophony.
I trust that you, too, are seeking the Lord with an open heart and listening to His still small voice. To do this, we must shut out the voices of the world around us and be still and know that He is God. (Psalms 46:10).  In this stillness, you can almost hear Him rejoicing over you with the most beautiful, intimate voice you have ever heard. Oh my dear Faithful Weigh Friends, listen to Him and not the cacophony around you.
May God bless your worship to Him this day,
    Mary Ann

Emotions and our journey through them! TFW

Happy Wednesday, you all!  Yep...we were blessed by our meetings yesterday as we continue to work through some tough sections of this chapter on emotions!  Yikes!  Yep, we all have them, God created them, but most of the time, we abuse their purpose.  By this I mean we mistakenly think that they are ours to control.  My prayer request for this week is that I will be able to stop for a moment and recognize what emotion I am feeling and remember just who IS in control.  God, not the emotion.  Like I said, some tough ground we are covering but these very things could be pushing us to eat when we are NOT hungry.  Emotions are not bad or do they need to be ignored.  Perhaps we need to figure out their origin and ask God how to use them for His glory?  The Daily Bread talked about all of the hardships that Paul endured in 2 Cor. 11:24-33. Can you even imagine the emotions he went through time after time?  I could relate to their statement for the day at the bottom. "The journey is as important as the destination."   Wouldn't it be easier to just take a pill and get to our "goal" weight and stay there?  Yep, it sure would be!! However, the journey we are on is transforming us for His glory!  Instead of fussing over what the scales tells us from day to day, let's be more about the excitement of His transforming power in our lives and thank Him for the work that He is doing in our hearts.  We, too, can echo Paul's words in verse 30, "If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weaknesses."   If you would like to learn more about what we can boast about, go to my church's website, www.pybs.us, and listen to Pastor Leo's sermon on Jeremiah 9:24, "..but let him who boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am Lord, who exercises kindness, justice, and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight," declares the Lord."   I am so thankful for this journey God has on us together.  May you seek Him this week within your emotions.  He is there already, why not ask Him what He would like you to do with them?  He has the answer!  He IS the answer!  Blessings to each of you, my sweet Faithful Weigh Friends.

    New Year's Eve 2014 - TFW

As another year comes to a close, I can't help but sit in my quiet living room, gazing at my tree shining through the darkness and feel the peace around me.  Not the peace of the quietness but the peace in my heart, knowing that I am not doing this life alone.  Knowing that the presence of the very God of the universe is right here with me.  He holds my heart and soul in His capable hands and this is why I get to experience His amazing peace that I cannot find anywhere else in this mixed up world. We all need these time to step out of our busy lives to sit and know that He is God. That He is here. That my life is but a vapor in His timing but that His timing is always perfect and that is why I am right here.  Here in this crazy world of busyness with the unending things that entice us to take our eyes off from things above as we continue to listen the lies that we so willingly learned over our lifetimes.  I am so thankful for the past few years that God has seen fit to show me more clearly how these lies so readily shaped what I have believed and my actions and reactions.  He has shown me these things through sermons at my church, the women's bible studies, my personal devotions with the Scriptures, Jesus Calling and the Daily Bread.  However, I have to say that the "rubber hit the road" in our Faithful Weigh meetings and book studies.  God saw fit to bring His truths home to my heart by meeting me right where I thought I had "control" over.  Wow.  Was my thinking ever wrong!!  I am so thankful for each of our Faithful Weigher's, whether there in person at our meetings, receiving our emails or Facebook posts.  God has used all of this and our interactions with you all to reshape my thinking.  To bring forward the lies I have believed so that I had to deal with them.  Some of them so very deep in my character that I didn't even know they were lies.  Our defense can be that "this is who I am"!  But God...in His almighty, sovereign wisdom and design of our amazing bodies, knew different.  If we truly believe and desire the words that we repeat from God's word, "to be holy as I am holy", we must surrender each and every one of those beliefs based on the lies of this world, to His truths.  His truth will set us free and we will be free, indeed.  Ahhh...with this progress I have made...in my eyes it may seem great...in God's smiling, all-knowing eyes, He knows I have far to travel but that my life is reflecting more and more of His truths.  What a blessing to look back on this past year and to actually realize the changes He has made through this avenue of my eating!  Who knew that what and why I put food in my mouth is a very reflection of my trust in Him!!  Wow....I have so far to go but I am so thankful for the journey with Him and each of YOU, that I have been blessed to travel this past year.  As random as my brain thinks, this thought just came to me!  Have we ever wondered why an onion smells so bad and strong that it can force our tear ducts to leak?  Aha!!  God knew that as we "peeled off" the onion layers of the lies we have believed, that we would weep with surrendered hearts and then realize the joy and peace when that smelly stuff is thrown in the garbage!!  (aka...as far as the east is from the west!)  Whooohooot!  Praise His Name for the amazing work He has done in our lives and with this knowledge, we have hope in the days to come because He is faithful and His way is true!  Hence we came to this wonderful weight-loss support ministry that God has blessed Laurie and I to facilitate for Him.  The Faithful Weigh!  My prayer for this New Year of 2015 is that this journey we are walking, even though it may feel like we are trudging along, may bring you the hope that God is with you, that He is for you and that He will keep you close to Him as you continue to surrender your layers of onions to the amazing truths, peace and joy that awaits us along the way.  Many blessings to each of you, my sweet Faithful Weigh Friends.  I truly love you all in the Name of my Lord and Savior.  Mary Ann

The Light of the Christmas Star....

I have always loved the picture of the little shepherd boy gazing heavenward at the bright shining star over Bethlehem.  The light that announced the coming of God's only Son to save a lost world from the darkness of sin.  I, too, want to gaze heavenward at the Light of this world each day that God gives me on this earth.  To allow His Light to seep into my heart and illuminate every dark shadow with His presence.  To bring me the joy and peace that we hear so much about this time of year.
One morning recently, I got to thinking about God's light pouring down on me and the shadow behind me from His light.
First, that His light shines down on me, almost like a spotlight with a circle of light around me, to show me the next step.  If I try to look beyond the circle of light, it is dark.  Where the footstep in the darkness may lead can only be imagined.  I am only to take that next step on my path of life, that God is allowing me to see by His light.  If I choose to turn away from His light, then I will be taking those steps in darkness of my own shadow.   Because I am His child, He does not remove His light from me.  I create the shadow from His light behind me when I think I can do things my own way, in my own strength.  I came upon this verse in my pondering.  2 Corinthians 4:6,  "For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ."    "Lord, help me to walk only in Your light that shines in my heart."
The second thought that rolled around my thinking was that when God's light shines on me, it also reflects off from me.  When I thought about the science of light bouncing off from objects it hits, it was a clear picture of God's light bouncing off from what He is doing in my life WHEN I am keeping my eyes focused on Him and walking in His lighted path for me.  The purpose of a light is so that one can see the way.  The purpose of God's plan for me is to reflect His light and His glory to those around me who may be struggling to keep their faces lifted towards God's  light of hope or may be choosing to walk in their own shadows.  One of my favorite verses is Proverbs 3:5 that says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding."   I have learned through many years of walking in God's light and trudging in my own shadow, that trusting the Lord for my very next step is the only place that I can find hope, peace and joy that the angels sang about in the lighted sky that night so long ago.  The song that God brought to me to sing for our Christmas Eve service tonight is the "Christmas Star" by Cece Winans.   These words say what my heart is thinking this morning.
"The greatest gift that God could give became the Christmas Star.
There's a light that shines on everyone,
    Burning brighter everyday
For the souls who search for peace on earth
It's the Christmas Star that lights the way."

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to each of you and may you lift your face to the only source of peace and joy, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Internal Cues, Rest, Hunger, Fullness & Trust! TFW

Happy Friday, Faithful Weigher's.  I  trust you are having a good week, so far, trusting God for your internal cues.  As we continue to discover the amazing design God created in our bodies, we are learning about even more of His perfect design in our Bible Study on Hebrews at PYBC.  This week the focus was on REST!  I know...you all don't have to tell me to "listen to it".  As for you that know me, God has to "slap me upside the head" at times when there is something He is bringing to my attention. :)  He does this by bringing this topic to me in many different ways.  Last night, the dvd study was so good.  This morning, Sarah Young, the author of "Jesus Calling" must have called up Lisa Harper and coordinated the exact topic and day that I would be watching the dvd and reading the devotional!  How dare those two connive on my behalf!  :)  All kidding aside, this is a serious topic for most of us.  Sarah says in JC this morning, "I built into your very being the need for rest.  How twisted the world has become when people feel guilty about meeting this basic need." There you have it.  Another area of God's perfect design of our bodies that we easily overlook or ignore the signals it is giving to us.  To me, this brings another layer to the phrase we have been using a lot in this book study.  "To listen to our God-given internal cues."  I, for one, need to also listen to these cues, to rest!  However, as we have learned this week and last that hunger pangs and fullness is subjective, rest also is.  It means different things to different people.  First, I "rest" when I am in God's Word and writing in my journal in the morning.  This is my "spiritual rest".  It might be a half hour, it might be 2 hours.  I so look forward to my morning coffee time with my Lord.  My "physical rest" to me is sleeping at night, of course, but "rest" in the other part of my life is sitting with my hubby or a friend, chatting about stuff over a cup of coffee.  I know..my brain isn't resting...but this is what I enjoy doing, this is what I lament that I don't have more time to do.  However, as I listen to my internal cues for hunger, fullness and now tiredness, God is teaching me to rely more and more on Him and to trust Him more and more in the moments of my day.  It is from Him that I will learn His meaning of these cues for me.  I desire that my cues will be subjective, not to what I perceive but to His will and plan for me. To bring Him glory with my life. Ya know, I am so grateful that God has brought me to this time of my life, with all the hardships I have endured. Without my journey with Him thus far, I would not be where I am, right now, learning of His amazing design and will for me.  I am excited to be right where I am and to keep walking with my Lord!  Trusting God in more areas of my life that I didn't realize I had "control" of.  Are you praising God today for the journey He has brought you on?  Are you excited for what He is teaching you right now?  Is your desire to be subjective to God's design and will for you?  As I read over the prayer request that we had this week at our meetings, the underlying need I see is that we trust God in each of our areas of need.  He is worthy of our trust!  Blessings for the weekend, my sweet Faithful Weigh Friends!

Is It Really that Simple? YES! TFW

Happy Friday, Faithful Weigher's.  It seems like it's usually on a Friday that I feel that I need to reach out to you all!  I really missed being at our meetings the past week.  As the saying goes, "You never know what the day brings".  This seems especially true in my world!  Thank you for your understanding and prayers for my daughter.  She is not doing what she "thinks" she should be doing but I think that she is improving a little each day.  The 6 to 7 weeks of healing seems like forever in her thinking, as a working mom with many responsibilities.  It certainly would for most of us, too.

So, what a handout, huh?  I especially liked how Dr. Rita explained what God says in His Word first, in our last week's handout, and then gives us her thoughts on the lies of dieting that the world has led us to believe.   I have to say that I have read the verses she gave to us last week many times over  many years.  I thought that I understood them enough but in the light of these points that she made this week, perhaps I didn't understand how they pertain to God's plan for me, my own body and way of thinking!  They were "good for Bible day people", I must have reasoned.   Until I read these  things about what diets really are and what they do to our bodies and our minds, it made those verses and the very creation of our bodies even more clear.  God said that "It was good".   The world has told us that "It is not good, you need to do this and that to make it good"...and I am one that bought into many of these, too.  You would have thought that with all of the wonderful book studies and insight that God has given to us in the past 2 years of TFW, that those things which I held onto that hindered me would be discovered and done with.  Well, think again, my sweet friends.  There are more layers to peel of this onion!  I was reading in another book, unrelated to this topic, that we so easily get wound up in the world's idea of "life" with all of its needs and must haves, that we smother the amazingly simple truth that God has for us.  That we can have freedom in Christ, peace that passeth all understanding which He promises us when we live our lives in His presence and for His glory.  The stuff of the world is so much harder to follow than seeking God in the moments of our day.  Dr. Rita talks about the bondage we are in and how food becomes our "boss" and so many other areas of our lives that are affected by the lies of dieting.  I have been there and I have coached many clients through a rigid dieting process.  I know now why God allowed me to do those things.  For such a time as this, He allowed me to do all of that to bring me to a point of seeing much more clearly how my thinking and desires bought into these false hopes.  Yes, with willpower and money, they worked ...for a while.  Then the process got "old" and the money was gone and life returned to the way it was before I was enticed to "the last diet I would have to ever be on".   I know this now...if I hadn't been there and done that, I wouldn't understand where I have been as clearly as I do today.  As I counted grams of protein, carbs, fats, calories and adhered to a restricted list of allowed foods, I admit I had to seek God's help because on my own, I would have quit the hour after I started.  I admit that I was at a point with physical pain that I knew I needed to do something drastic to change where I was and to improve my health without medications.  I can now understand why God allowed that particular program to come before me and allowed me to be successful on it , changing the way I eat and ending a  progressive health issue.   I didn’t' do it without His help.  I thank Him for that and for improving my overall health through it.  But I thank Him even more, looking back, for the experience I had and the opportunity I had to help others, to enter into their worlds and see their hearts, the desires, their hopes that they thought this program would bring to them.  For some, it didn't last even a month.  For others, they were successful in their goals but when they stopped, they have gained it all back and some even more.  The reason I feel God allowed me to go through that experience?  So I could more clearly see the truth that God had given us at creation and that He is faithful in His promises.  So that I could more clearly see that when we put our hopes and dreams into things of this world, we will be let down.  So why do we go on this path of the world?  Why do we allow our minds to be so strongly influenced by the world's lie of what is good for us?    I think we need to be active in learning what is healthy for our bodies and to eat good, wholesome foods and exercise as we can. This world has "fed" us many food items that are filled with things that are not good for us and have created a lifestyle that is much more sedentary than what we were created for.  Please don't think that I am saying that we can sit in our recliners while we nibble on an apple and call it good!  But what I have come to understand and can see more clearly is this.  Why do we go to such great lengths to follow the rules of a man-made plan when God's plan is so simple.  He created man in His own image and said that it was all good.  (Genesis 1:27,31)  It's really simple.  In simple, child-like faith, just say "Jesus".  When you don't fully understand what is before you, whether you are truly hungry, or if you are attempting to fill a void inside your heart, just say "Jesus".  God is faithful and He will draw you closer to Him in your moments of your day.  There, you will unsmother the peace and freedom in Christ that we read so many times in scriptures.  He's right there, just say "Jesus".  Blessings, my sweet Faithful Weigh Friends.

God Says I Can Eat What? TFW

I have been encouraged by a friend to post my writings for our weight-loss support group, The Faithful Weigh. I always felt that I had to tweak them before I could post them but have not found the time to do that.  However, with her encouragement, I will just repost into my blog the words that God gives me to share with our group. I will include in my title, TFW, for these post.  I pray that they will encourage the hearts that read them here, too.

Happy Friday, Faithful Weigher's!  If you were at our meetings on Tuesday or have read the handout online,  for me, it was refreshing to see from God's Word what we CAN eat and do instead of what we CAN'T eat and do!  Who knew?  GOD!  He knows because He created us and every "internal cue" that our bodies give us and we are "cueless" to what their purposes are!  :)  Gluttony  was an "ouchy" topic for me to dig into.  I don't know about you but my first response to this was that I'm not a glutton because I am not obese, nor do I eat everything in sight.  Well, Dr. Rita shot that thought right out of my thinking for I am guilty, even to this day, without even knowing that I was. I continually, eat in excess beyond the needs of my body, just plainly because I want to!  Eating beyond the internal cue I must have had and ignored, until I was ready to plop in my chair until my massive stomachache let up.   Did you ever think of that as gluttony?   The Living Bible described gluttons in Titus 1:12 as "lazy and living only to satisfy their stomachs."   Plus, who knew that "excess" means, as defined in the Webster Dictionary, "exceeding proper established limits."  Wow!  Did Mr. Webster know God's perfect and amazing design of our bodies and how He created us to know when we need to nourish our bodies and when we have had enough to sustain us?    I don't know about you but this was such affirmation to me that my God is an awesome and amazing God and from the beginning of time, He made me perfect in His sight with "proper established limits".   My sin nature has covered up, so to speak, His perfect design by buying into so many of the world's lies about my image and also how to soothe my emotions through the indulgence of food and pleasure.  After all, "I'm worth it", right?  When I stopped and thought about how I have thought that this fulfilled my worth, I have been going down a path of destruction.   If I have been trying to define my worth by the worlds standards I would have ended up where many have and will end up.  Fat and unhappy!  I am thanking God for the path of His provision in my life that has brought me to this place.  The diets I have done, the "wisdom" I had believed in, the success and failures I have endured, were only allowed by Him to teach me what He had already had given to me.  Isn't it just like God to be so patient and faithful to those that He loves so much?  Are you enjoying the freedom that is right here for us in these truths we are learning?  If you feel the need to dig into something to try to fulfill some unknown need, dig into His Word!  It is so rich and full and will bring you more peace and joy than any chocolate chip or whatever your comfort food could ever do.  Blessings, my Sweet Faithful Weigh Friends.
